Fisherman pleads guilty to sodomising wife

A FISHERMAN pleaded guilty to the charge of sodomising his wife, which was among seven counts that include unlawful confinement and possession of pornographic video compact discs (VCDs).

The 36-year old from Manjung, Perak pleaded guilty to all the charges read before Sessions Court judge S. Indra Nehru.

For the sodomy offence, the accused was charged under Section 377C of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum sentence of 20 years’ jail and whipping.

The offence was committed at a house in Kampung Padang Tembak, Lumut between 1pm and 2pm, and 8.30pm and 11.30pm on April 16.

According to the New Straits Times, he was also charged with committing carnal intercourse by inserting a sex toy into his 36-year-old wife’s private part without her consent.

The offence was committed at the same house between 8.30pm and 11.30pm on April 16, and between 9am and 10am on April 17.

For this offence, the accused was charged under Section 377CA of the Penal Code which carries a maximum sentence of 30 years’ jail and whipping.

For causing injury while coercing her into have sexual intercourse, the father-of-three faces several charges under Section 375A of the Penal Code. The offence was committed at the same house between 8.30pm and 11.30pm on April 16.

The accused was also charged with unlawful confinement of his wife, at the same address between 1.30pm on April 16 until 12pm on April 18.

For this offence, he was charged under Section 340 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 324 of the same act which carries a jail term of up to a year and a maximum RM2,000 fine, or both.

He also pleaded guilty to the charge of possessing 13 pornographic VCDs, under Section 292 (a) of the Penal Code that carries a maximum penalty of three-year imprisonment and a fine, or both.

The accused was unrepresented. Deputy Public Prosecutor Naidatul Athirah Azman requested for no bail to be allowed as both the victim and the accused were living under one roof.

The court however allowed bail of RM32,500 for all charges with one surety and set May 8 for sentencing.
