FINANCE Minister Senator Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz has been appointed as the National Recovery Plan (NRP) coordinating minister.
The Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement that this was agreed during the first virtual meeting of the Special Cabinet Committee on NRP that was chaired by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today.
He will be responsible to monitor the strategies and assistance implementation as well as take proactive measures that are suitable and dynamic during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The statement added that the Economic Stimulus Implementation and Coordination Unit between National Agencies (LAKSANA) under Finance Ministry, will be the NRP secretariat.
It was also decided that cooperation with experts in the health, economic and social sector would be strengthened to get feedback and to continuously evaluate the effectiveness of public health measures.
“The government understands the difficulties of the people at this time and the challenges faced in the effort to recover from the pandemic.
“The government will continue to ensure that the NRP prioritises the welfare of the people as well as being transparent and inclusive,” the statement read.
