THEY left Parti Keadilan Rakyat together last week but have since parted ways.

Baru Bian, who led the three Sarawak MPs out of PKR now supports Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad. Ali Biju and Willie Mongin back newly-minted PM Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.

Baru, the Selangau MP admitted that, initially, he and his colleagues took the decision to support Muhyiddin as the country’s 8th prime minister when he learned that Dr Mahathir was not keen on the job anymore.

“But, (later) when the Langkawi MP voiced his intention to take the country’s highest political position once again, I support him,” he said in a statement. This was why he decided decided to also Datuk Seri Azmin Ali’s camp.

“I support Tun (Dr Mahathir) because I was able to achieve “many tasks” to improve Sarawak under the leadership of the former prime minister,” the former Works Minister said in a statement.

However, Ali, the Saratok MP and Willie Mongin from Puncak Borneo did not follow suit this time around.

The duo said their presence in the new government would ensure Sarawak is well represented and to voice the needs of the people, especially the rural folks.

“It is our responsibilities to bring development to those who voted us and we know that we cannot do so (bring development) if we choose to be in the opposition,” they said in a joint-statement today.
