A FORMER Minister and Deputy Minister are undergoing tests to confirm if they had contracted Covid-19 from a senior Khazanah senior staff, a Member of Parliament said today.

Kelana Jaya MP Wong Chen, in a Facebook posting this morning said the Khazanah staff, who’s been tested positive for the disease, had been in contact with the duo three days ago,

“Tests are being conducted on the ex minister and ex deputy minister. The ex minister and ex deputy minister have attended many political meetings during the week long crisis. PLEASE NOTE that both have not been found to be infected and that tests are ongoing. Health advisory action is self quarantine, if you have been in contact with a person, who was in contact with a Covid 19 victim,” he said.

Malaysiakini had earlier reported that the patient, who is also the head of a government-linked company, had attended a ministry function with the former minister and the former deputy minister in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 27.

Meanwhile, Sarawak Report claimed that the Minister is a close associate of newly-minted Prime Minister, Tan Sri Mujyiddin Yassin.

The patient had travelled to Shanghai in the middle of January and developed fever and sore throat on Feb 27,. He was tested positive for Covid-19 on Feb 29.

Based on photographic evidence of the event on Feb 27, the patient was seen standing a few feet away from the former minister and former deputy minister.

It is understood that at least one of them is under self-quarantine and will get checked soon.

One of them has joined the new Perikatan Nasional coalition while another is part of the Pakatan Harapan coalition.

They had mingled with their fellow MPs during a series of political meetings to deal with the political deadlock that followed after the Harapan government collapsed on Monday.
