AN early 15th General Election (GE15) can be held if Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) wins the Sabah polls on Sept 26, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin hinted today.

He said the Sabah state election was vital as it would decide the future political landscape of the country, especially to the people of Sabah.

“At the national level, we haven’t decided when the general election should be called…but if we win the state election in Sabah…we should quickly hold the general election.

“What’s important in Sabah polls is the signal that we can get (from the people) on whether or not they are supporting Perikatan Nasional (PN) or wanting me to continue being the Prime Minister because we want Malaysia to move forward and succeed. One of the ways to succeed is to stick with me,” he said.

Muhyiddin said this at the meet-and-greet event with the locals here today, which was also attended by Agriculture and Food Industries Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee, PN canditate for Pintasan, Fairuz Renddan, and Barisan Nasional candidate for Usukan Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak.

Muhyiddin, who is also PN chairman, said the Sabah people should help ensure victory for GRS in the state election so that the state government is aligned with the federal government.

“If the Sabah government is led by GRS after the polls on Sept 26, I promise to help Sabah to revive its economy back to normal, if not better than before COVID-19,” he added. – BERNAMA
