DEPUTY Director-General of Health Datuk Dr Rohaizat Yon has come out in support of Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, who recently came under attack by Bintulu MP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
Dr Rohaizat said as Health Director-General, Dr Hisham’s role was to support, plan and guide front-line medical workers.
“If in war we must support, back up and give guidance to the frontliners to attack the enemy in this Covid-19 situation.
“We need to have a complete strategy and data to attack this invisible enemy if we want to win the war and not just go to war without preparation.
“So there is no issue if Dr Noor Hisham did not go to Sabah because he was there in August,” Sinar Harian reported.
Tiong King Sing had earlier this week said in Parliament that Dr Noor Hisham did not visit Sabah during the peak of Covid-19 infections because he was “takut mati” (afraid to die).
The Sarawak Progressive Democratic Party president has come under fire for the statement, including from Assistant Minister Datuk Karim Rahman Hamzah.
Tiong has refused to apologise.
