DESPITE it being a minority community in Sarawak, the DAP has questioned why there has been no welfare assistance or economic development for the Indians.

DAP Stapok chairman, B. Nethiyananthar said even celebrations like Deepavali and Thaipusam celebrated by the Indian community have not been declared as holidays in Sarawak.

“This is despite our Sarawak Government trying to portray itself as a government for all races and that promotes racial harmony,” he said.

He also took a swipe at SUPP’s Stakan branch secretary, S.Sivanesan who had resigned from the same position on Oct 2, last year.

“He had resigned abruptly then, citing disillusionment with the party’s leadership

“Now within a short span, he has re-joined SUPP. With this kind of flip-flopping, it is no wonder that he has also done nothing for the Indian community all these years,” added Nethiyananthar.
