DAP has terminated the membership of eight people following a meeting on Wednesday (March 10).

The eight are Wong Chee Ming, Choo Kok Cheng, Liew Kee Ho, Loh Kok Weng, Cheng Kai Meng, Khor Ah Lak, Wong Chee and Chan Fook Ching.

Party disciplinary committee chairman Chong Chieng Jen said seven party members were sacked for accepting the appointments by the Perak Perikatan Nasional government as village development and security committee chairmen.

“The last and eighth member – Chan – has continued to be the assistant of and associate himself with Malim Nawar assemblyman Leong Cheok Keng,” said Chong.

“His (Leong’s) membership was terminated by the party on the ground that he has applied to be a member of MCA and is deemed a traitor of the party, ” he said in a statement yesterday.

Leong’s DAP membership was terminated on Jan 19.

“Their acts are against the party policy in Perak and (the party policy) nationwide, ” he added.

Chong said all party members were reminded to adhere strictly to its collective party decision.

“This includes to not accept the appointment of positions offered by the Perikatan government without the collective decision of the party leadership,” he said.

According to The Star, Chong said that accepting such positions is a betrayal of the party’s struggle and also a betrayal of the people.

Do not sacrifice party integrity and personal honour for positions or other personal benefits offered by Perikatan, ” he said.
