Covid-19: Slight dip in new cases, Sabah still top source

THE Health Ministry recorded 293 new Covid-19 cases today, 131 of which are from Sabah, with the national tally now at 12,381 cases.

Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said out of the 293 new cases, 292 were locally transmitted.

Kedah has the second highest new cases at 113 followed by Selangor at 31.

Johor had eight new cases, Kuala Lumpur had three, Perak and Negri Sembilan each had two, while Penang, Sarawak and Kelantan one new case each.

The death toll remains at 137 or 1.1 per cent of the total number of cases.

Dr Noor Hisham added that 67 patients recovered today with the total at 10,283 or a recovery rate of 83.05 per cent.

He also announced that Alor Setar prison is now under targeted enhanced movement control order (EMCO) following the spike in cases there starting Tuesday for two weeks.

Yesterday, 317 new cases nationwide were reported, the second consecutive day Malaysia recorded all-time high numbers.
