MALAYSIA recorded its highest daily death toll of 219 today, in addition to 15,764 new Covid-19 cases over the past 24 hours.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 201 fatalities involved Malaysians and 18 were foreigners. No deaths were reported in Sarawak.
Only 43 did not have existing medical conditions while a total of 21 were brought in dead.
He said there are 199,051 active cases with 1,063 patients in the ICU and 532 on ventilators.
The total number of infections now stands at 1,146,186 cases.
Five states had four figure number of cases with Selangor recording the most cases at 6,067.
Kuala Lumpur had 1,536 cases, Johor (1,222), Sabah (1,116) and Kedah (1,108).
They were followed by Negeri Sembilan (862), Perak (748), Penang (667), Kelantan (552), Pahang (475), Malacca (463), Terengganu (425), Sarawak (411), Putrajaya (46), Perlis (9) and Labuan (7).
Sarawak’s total number of cases now stands at 77,717 infections.
