Covid-19: Sarawak reports 225 new cases, zero fatalities

SARAWAK registered 225 new positive Covid-19 cases and no fatalities today.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Bintulu had the most number of cases with 43 infections, followed by Samarahan (43), Sibu (39), Miri (24), Julau (12), Sebauh (10), Kuching (7), Kapit (7), Sarikei (7), Beluru (7), Matu (6), Meradong (6), Saratok (5), Serian (3), Song (3), Lubok Antu (2) and Kanowit (1).

It said only 32 patients showed symptoms of the virus during screening.

Highlighting the importance of quarantine, SDMC said 190 cases involved those who were in quarantine at designated quarantine centres.

The state’s total cases now stands at 17,779 cases, while the death toll remains at 114.

Meanwhile, the health ministry reported 1,070 Covid-19 cases and seven deaths in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 352,029, with 14,278 active cases.

There are 180 patients in the ICU, with 89 on respirators.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 327 cases, followed by Sarawak (225), Penang (133), Kuala Lumpur (88), Sabah (65), Johor (55), Pahang (37), Kedah (34), Kelantan (31), Malacca (25), Labuan (17), Negeri Sembilan (12), Putrajaya and Perak (eight each), Terengganu (three) and Perlis (two).

There are also six new clusters today.
