Covid-19: Sarawak records 744 cases

THE number of new Covid-19 cases dropped slightly below 5,000 today with the Health Ministry reporting 4,949 cases in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 662,457, with 71,625 active cases.

This is the third straight day of decline in new cases.

He said there were also 60 deaths, bringing the nation’s death toll to 3,968.

The number of patients in ICU has also reached a record high of 921, with 459 on ventilators.

Selangor had the highest number of cases with 1,523 infections, followed by Sarawak (744), Kuala Lumpur (503), Johor (430), Negeri Sembilan (323), Sabah (273), Penang (214), Kelantan (214), Kedah (199),  Perak (136), Malacca (119), Labuan (113), Terengganu (86), Pahang (61), Putrajaya (10) and Perlis (1).
