MALAYSIA recorded 4,743 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, which is a slight increase from yesterday’s 4,611 cases.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of cases is now 705,762.
There are 62,027 active cases with 875 patients in the ICU and 445 on ventilators.
He said there were 77 deaths reported today, bringing the death toll to 4,554.
Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 1,566, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 635 cases, Negeri Sembilan (585), Sarawak (507), Johor (239), Penang (195), Sabah (193), Malacca (167), Kelantan (165), Kedah (142), Pahang (131), Labuan (104), Perak (68), Terengganu (37), Putrajaya (7) and Perlis (2).
Meanwhile, Sarawak’s total number of cases is now 60,989.
There were seven deaths in the state, bringing the death toll to 389. Four of the deaths were in Sibu, while the others were in Meradong, Pakan, and Kuching.
Two new Covid-19 clusters were declared, in Sebauh and Telang Usan.
The Sungai Long Seripa Cluster in Sebauh is a community cluster involving a longhouse and there are 40 cases so far.
The Lunyim Cluster in Telang Usan involves two villages with 21 cases so far.
