Covid-19 recovery rate at 53.4% nationwide, one new death recorded

A TOTAL 119 Covid-19 patients recovered and were discharged today, bringing the total of such cases to 2,766 (53.4%) nationwide.

Health Ministry director-general, Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said as of noon, there were 110 new cases reported, making it a total 5,182 nationwide.

“From this, 56 cases are being treated in the ICU, with 29 using ventilators,” he said.

One new death was recorded, making it 84 deaths in total nationwide, which is 1.62 per cent of the overall cases.

“The 84th death was a 66-year-old man who had a history of high blood pressure and heart problems. He was admitted to Hospital Kuala Lumpur on April 9 and died about 12.55pm yesterday,” said Dr Noor.

In Sarawak, 16 new cases were recorded, bringing the total to 387 cases since March 13.

From the 16, 13 are being treated at Sarawak Hospital, two in Miri Hospital and another in Hospital Bintulu.

Yesterday, police nabbed 142 people for not following the movement control order (MCO).

Overall, the adherence level for the MCO stands at 97 per cent state-wide.
