Covid-19: Record 9,353 new infections nationwide

MALAYSIA recorded 9,353 new Covid-19 infections in the past 24 hours, a new daily high, raising the cumulative number to 827,191.

Yesterday, the country recorded 9,180 new cases and had on May 29, recorded 9,020 cases.

Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham said Selangor reported 4,277 infections today, the highest among all states and federal territories, followed by Kuala Lumpur (1,398) and Melaka (835).

“Negri Sembilan registered 638 new cases, followed by Johor (399), Kedah (364), Sarawak (352), Sabah (251), Pahang (247), Penang (180), Perak (145), Kelantan (89), Labuan (85), Terengganu (50), Putrajaya (39) and Perlis (four),” he shared on social media today.

Of the 352 new infections in Sarawak, 65 were from Sarikei, followed by Kuching (64), Saratok (29), Lubok Antu (19)  and Sibu (19), the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said in a statement.

No new deaths were reported in Sarawak today, with the tally holding at 431.

The SDMC also declared a new cluster, Sungai Setajam in Sarikei, involving a longhouse which has seen 75 positive cases.
