Covid-19: New cases back to four digits, none in Sarawak

THE number of new Covid-19 cases have crept up to four digits again with 1,109 cases reported today.

Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of cases now stood at 61,861, with 11,307 being active cases.

He said there were two deaths today, bringing the death toll to 350.

Sabah recorded the highest number of cases with 441, followed by Selangor (175), Negeri Sembilan (167) and Kuala Lumpur (154).

Dr Noor Hisham said 1,148 people were discharged today, bringing the number of discharges to 50,204 or 81.2%.

There are four new Covid-19 clusters – Jalan Tuaran cluster in Sabah; Jalan Haruan cluster in Negeri Sembilan; Puteh Lama construction site cluster in Kuala Lumpur; and the Beringin cluster in Penang.

Meanwhile, Sarawak recorded zero new Covid-19 cases today, with the total number of cases in the state remaining at 1,062.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 25 patients are still being treated in Sarawak hospitals.

The state still has six active clusters – Besi, Jalan Abell, Baki, Seladah, Greenhill and Wisma Saberkas , all in Kuching.

SDMC said although the CMCO ends today, night clubs, pubs, karaoke lounges and reflexology centres are still not allowed to operate.

It said other sectors apart from entertainment, would be allowed to operate in compliance with the SOPs between 6am and 12am.
