Covid-19: MOH to step up contact tracing for three Sarawak clusters

WHILE the Covid-19 outbreak in the country is showing improvement, Sarawak has experienced a drastic increase in the past two days.

Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the state has the highest number of daily cases in Malaysia, with 19 out of 50 cases reported in the country yesterday.

Healthcare workers in Kuching recorded 10 cases, followed by the Kuching Church Conference cluster (7) and one linked to the Family RK (Italy) cluster.

“We need to further improve steps and strategies to break the chain of infection for the three clusters in Sarawak. We need to intensify our efforts to identify and trace their close contacts ,” he said during the daily Covid-19 press conference in Putrajaya on Wednesday.

“Besides, we are also need to look into cases where the source of infection or close contact that have yet to be identified,” he added.

There was a sudden increase in positive cases in Sarawak, from six on Monday to 22 on Tuesday, followed by 19 cases on Wednesday (yesterday).
