Covid-19: Five deaths in Sarawak as 3,551 new cases recorded nationwide

SARAWAK has recorded five Covid-19 deaths today along with 391 new cases.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the deaths were recorded in Bintangor, Sibu, Sarikei, Bintulu and Kuching.

Of the new cases, it said 64.45% of them were from Sibu, Bintulu, Miri, Kapit and Kuching, with only 58 cases showing symptoms during screening.

The state’s total cases now stands at 33,477 while the death toll has increased to 195.

Sibu had the most cases with 88, followed by Bintulu (55), Miri (50), Kapit (33), Kuching (26), Selangau (23), Sri Aman (19), Samarahan (11), Kanowit (11), Sarikei (10), Mukah (10), Pakan (8), Julau (7), Subis (6), Serian (6), Meradong (5), Tebedu (5), Bau (4), Sebauh (3), Tatau (3), Song (3), Saratok (2), Betong (1), Daro (1) and Belaga (1).

Meanwhile, the Health Ministry reported 3,551 Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stands at 427,927.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 1,137, followed by Kuala Lumpur (477), Sarawak (391), Kelantan (326), Penang (305), Johor (258), Perak (137), Kedah (112), Pahang (97), Negeri Sembilan (85), Sabah (69), Malacca (82), Terengganu (58), Putrajaya (12), Perlis (3) and Labuan (2).
