Covid-19: Cases surge in Johor, Kedah and Sabah

MALAYSIA recorded 10,972 new Covid-19 cases and 129 deaths in the past 24 hours.

This is a slight increase from the 10,710 cases recorded yesterday.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the total number of infections now stood at 927,533.

There are 128,997 active cases, with 915 patients in the ICU and 435 on ventilators.

The 129 deaths today, bring the number of fatalities to 7,148.

Selangor recorded 4,404 cases and there is a surge in Sabah (651), Johor (876) and Kedah (705).

Negeri Sembilan had 1,340 cases, Kuala Lumpur (609), Pahang (475), Malacca (474), Penang (426), Perak (324), Sarawak (301), Kelantan (170), Terengganu (144), Putrajaya (48), Labuan (24) and Perlis (1).

Sarawak’s total number of cases now stands at 71,601.

The state also recorded three Covid-19 death cases – one each in Kuching, Sarikei and Kapit – bringing the death toll to 447.

Two new Covid-19 clusters were also declared in Sarawak today.

The Pagar Satok Cluster is police station cluster in Satok, where 24 positive cases among detainees were recorded.

The other cluster is the Jalan Selalang Cluster, a community cluster in a longhouse at Sungai Kerubong, Jalan Selalang in Sarikei, where 37 cases have been recorded so far.
