Covid-19: 317 cases nationwide, 3 in Sarawak

THE spread of Covid-19 infections does not seem to be relenting as 317 new cases were recorded nationwide today.

There was also another death, bringing the death toll to 137 people.

The total number of cases in country so far is 12,088 cases, with 10,216 having been discharged.

Health Ministry director general Tan Sri Noor Hisham Abdullah said the all the new cases today were local transmissions with Sabah recording 155 cases, Kedah (102) and Selangor (32).

There are three cases in Sarawak, all from those returning from Sabah. Two are in Sibu while the other is in Kuching.

He said 303 cases involved Malaysians while the rest were non-Malaysians.

There are three new clusters today, one in Selangor and two in Kedah.

They are the Bah Lumas and the Bah Rose clusters in Kedah and the Jelok cluster in Selangor.

The index case for the Jelok cluster in Selangor was identified during screenings on Oct 3.

Three more positive cases were identified from contact tracing screenings.
