Covid-19: 20,579 new cases today: 2,522 infections in Sarawak

THE Health Ministry reported 20,579 new Covid-19 infections today, with Selangor continuing to log the highest number of cases in the country.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this raised the cumulative number of cases to 1,706,089.

This is the sixth-consecutive day Malaysia registered over 20,000 fresh infections and today’s figures were a slight drop from the 22,597 cases reported yesterday.

Dr Noor Hisham said Selangor recorded the highest number of cases at 4,591, followed by Sabah (2,578) and Sarawak (2,522).

“Johor logged 1,852 new cases, Kedah with 1,755 cases, while Penang reported 1,378 cases, Kelantan with 1,316 and Perak with 1,208 cases.

“States that logged three-digit cases were Pahang (839), Terengganu (789), Kuala Lumpur (680), Melaka (636) and Negri Sembilan (329).

“Perlis and Putrajaya logged 56 and 48 cases respectively, while Labuan recorded only two new infections,” he shared on his official Facebook page today. – NST
