Covid-19: 172 new cases, mainly foreigners

THE nation saw a jump in the number of new Covid-19 infections with 172 cases reported over the past 24 hours.

Only eight cases involved Malaysians while 159 cases are foreign nationals. Five cases were Malaysians returning from overseas.

The Health Ministry said 112 of the foreign national cases were detected in three Immigration depots.

The nationwide death toll from Covid-19 remained at 115 people with no new deaths recorded in the past 24 hours.

A total of 34 patients were also discharged from hospital, bringing total recoveries to 5,979.

Meanwhile, Sarawak recorded four new cases and the three more districts have now returned to being classified as yellow zones.

They are Serian, Bintulu and Tanjung Manis districts.

All other 35 districts are classified as green zones.
