THERE were 16 Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, including 11 cases from two clusters in Kedah.

This brings the total number of cases to 9,235 nationwide.

Of the 16 new cases, 12 were local transmissions involving eight from the Tawar cluster and three from the Sala cluster in Kedah.

The other case was detected in Johor.

Sarawak again recorded zero positive Covid-19 cases today and total positive cases in the state stands at 682.

Meanwhile, Malaysiakini reports Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah saying the ministry is probing claims that Industry, Plantation and Commodities Minister Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali breached quarantine orders after returning from abroad.

“We are investigating. It was the period of home quarantine then.

“If (he) tested positive, (he) will be admitted to hospital and if (he) tested negative, (he needs to undergo) mandatory home quarantine for 14 days,” he said.

Yesterday, Seputeh MP Teresa Kok told the Dewan Rakyat that Khairuddin had returned from Turkey on July 7 after spending four days there.

He was present in Parliament six days later on July 13 – before the end of his home quarantine period.
