Covid-19: 10 new cases in Sarawak, second highest after KL

SARAWAK has recorded 10 new Covid-19 cases, the second highest in the country after Kuala Lumpur at 39.

Of the 10, six were from Kuching, three from Samarahan and one from Miri.

There were 51 new cases reported nationwide, bringing the total to 5,742 cases. The only other states with new cases were Selangor and Pahang at one each, Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah announced today.

Cumulatively, Sarawak now has 478 cases, the fourth highest in the country after Kuala Lumpur (1,154), Selangor (1,388) and Johor (655).

Two new deaths were also reported, one each in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur. Both victims were 62 and had health issues like heart problems and high blood pressure. This brings the total number of deaths to 98.

Dr Noor Hisham also announced that 99 Covid-19 patients have been discharged, bringing the total to 3,762 or a recovery rate of 65.5 per cent.

There were also 36 patients in intensive care units nationwide, of whom 16 required respiratory support.
