Cops find body of man who drowned after distributing aid in Julau

POLICE have found the body of a man believed to have drowned in Sungai Ensiring on Apr 7 after distributing food aid to needy folks in Julau, Sarawak.

Julau district police chief, Deputy Supt Usmuni Umar said the body of Mazian Seliong, 35, was found by the search and rescue team at 2.10 pm yesterday at Lubuk Dabai, Sungai Ensiring, Dayak Daily reported.

“The body has been sent to Julau police station for further action,” he said.

Two others, identified as Apai Kiroh and Laki Anchi, who were in the same boat with Mazian, managed to swim to safety.

At about 5 pm on Tuesday (April 7), the trio had just distributed food aid to the rural folk in Sungai Nilau, Ulu Julau and was returning to their base when their boat capsized.

Meluan assemblyman, Rolland Duat Jubin was also involved in the mission to distribute food aid to eight of the nine longhouses in the area.
