CLOSE contacts of Covid-19 patients have been told to turn themselves in as person under investigation (PUI) to prevent further spread of the coronavirus in the event they themselves have contracted the virus.

Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian said they should contact the hospital and ask for them to be quarantined.

“For every one case, it can have extensive PUI who are exposed to the infected contact over the last fourteen days especially with the easing of movement control order (MCO) and more activities being allowed.

“Of course, if you are being responsible and knew that you are being exposed to a Covid-19 positive patient, you should contact the hospital for quarantine as PUI.

“This is to prevent spreading (the virus) to your family, your friends and community if you turn up to be positive also,” he said in a Facebook post.

Dr Sim thanked two PUIs who recently volunteered to contact the Health Department to report themselves as contacts of a Covid-19 patient.

“You can help by installing the MySejahtera and COVIDTrace mobile application on your smartphone and use the iQmunity application or write down your name and phone number so that you can be contacted by health authorities.

“This spirit of Sarawak’s solidarity and united war effort will help us ultimately win the war against Covid-19,” he said.
