IT was truly a different Maundy Thursday and Good Friday celebration for Christians in Malaysia amid the Covid-19 pandemic this year.
Many celebrated Maundy Thursday by washing each other’s feet after their respective online mass services.
Services were streamed in numerous languages, including Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, English and Tamil.
Yesterday, Good Friday masses and also the Way of the Cross were also streamed online for Christians around the country.
The Easter Triduum is a very sacred time for Christians and is the period of three days that begins with the liturgy on the evening of Maundy Thursday, followed by Good Friday and reaches its high point in the Easter Vigil.
It closes with evening prayers on Easter Sunday. It recalls the Passion, Crucifixion, Death, burial, and Resurrection of Jesus, as portrayed in the gospels.
