SARAWAK DAP Chairman Chong Chieng Jen said Gabungan  Parti Sarawak (GPS) has finally made PAS’ dream to be part of the federal government come true.

Although they claimed that they are merely giving support to the Perikatan Nasional or to be “friendly”, it was just an excuse to exonerate themselves for putting UMNO and PAS into federal government, he said in a statement here.

” Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin  managed to get the 114 out of 222 MPs’ votes , of which GPS contributed 18.

Without  GPS, he (Muhyiddin) would only have 96 MPs supporting him ,which fell far short of the 112 number to form a new ruling coaltion,” he said.

Therefore, history must be recorded that GPS was indeed the “kingmaker” in the success of making Muhyiddin as well as the UMNO and PAS to become the federal government.

For decades, PAS has tried all ways to be part of the federal government but to no avail.

“With GPS’ support which has put PAS in the Federal Government, empowering the Islamic party to impart its ideology and policies in our national policies and federal laws. Sarawak will not be spared these national policies and federal laws,” said the Member of Parliament for Stampin.

Sarawak DAP even agreed to make concession and work with GPS for the interest of the nation and the people. But, the state ruling coalition prefers PAS and UMNO.

GPS government  would find it difficult to face the people of Sarawak, especially given in the upcoming Sarawak election.

“I believe most Sarawakians were shocked and felt betrayed with GPS’ decision, which has brought Umno back to power. This is surely not the way to defend Sarawak rights” he added.
