Parliament passed Budget 2021 through a voice vote after an attempt to put it through block voting failed.
Pokok Sena MP Datuk Mahfuz Omar tried to initiate a bloc vote but it failed to materialise as he lacked the required support of 15 MPs.
Only 13 MPs stood up in support.
The budget would now move to the committee stage, where there would be more debates and votes.
This comes after the government announced extra goodies for the Budget, including expanding withdrawals from EPF Account 1.
The EPF move partially met Umno’s demands in exchange for supporting the Budget.
