Brunei confirmed first Covid-19 case

BRUNEI reported its first case of Covid-19 after a local man was tested positive for the virus on Monday.

The 53-year-old man returned to the sultanate on March 3, from Kuala Lumpur with three friends and developed fever on March 7, Asian News Network reported.

The patient received treatment at Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha Hospital, the country’s biggest hospital on Sunday.

He is currently receiving treatment at the National Quarantine Center, Tutong District. He is in good and stable condition. Initial test found the patient positive for Covid-19 infection. The health ministry is waiting for the result of the verification test.

The ministry is tracking all contacts including family members of the patient and the three friends who participated in the trip with him.

All family members living with the patient have been given a 14-day quarantine notice.
