UMNO’S Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said Barisan Nasional MPs will discuss if Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin should step down following the King’s rejection of his proposal for an emergency.
The foreign minister said this when met at the Umno headquarters in Kuala Lumpur, where BN lawmakers gathered for a meeting this afternoon.
“We are discussing it. I want to hear from BN (regarding their) position,” replied the Umno treasurer-general when quizzed on Muhyiddin’s position, reports Malaysiakini.
On whether Umno is still supporting the Perikatan Nasional government, he said: “I don’t know, we have to wait for Umno’s meeting first.”
He also said it was “a bit unclear” if Muhyiddin has resigned, when asked to comment about such rumours.
The BN leadership including top Umno members have gathered for the closed-door meeting, just hours after the special Cabinet meeting this morning.
