ALL 472,923 households under the B40 category in Sarawak will receive their food assistance by Friday.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Abang Openg said RM35.5 million has been allocated to purchase and deliver the food assistance for the low income families, following the Movement Control Order 3.0, which was imposed from May 29 to June 14.
“We target to complete the distribution by Friday and seek the understanding of all those are still waiting to receive this assistance as the distribution logistics in Sarawak are challenging – with different areas requiring other modes of transport,” he said.
Speaking to reporters after the launch of the Food Assistance Distribution to Households affected by MCO at Masjid Darul Ehsan, Kampung Haji Baki in Kuching today, he said the Fire and Rescue Department’s Air Unit will assist the state to deliver the food items to interior areas.
As of yesterday (June 7), a total 49,811 households or 10.5 per cent have received the food assistance – under the sixth package of Bantuan Khas Sarawakku Sayang (BKSS 6.0).
