About half of Sarawak’s new Covid-19 cases are in Kuching

WITH Sarawak’s record number of Covid-19 cases today, three new clusters have also been declared in the state.

The State Disaster Management Committee said the Bandar Riyal Cluster in Samarahan had 47 cases in a cluster that involved workers and patrons of a community market and a food outlet in Kota Samarahan.

The Lubuk Bukut Cluster in Mukah has 40 cases and involves coal mine workers and their family members.

The third cluster is the Kampung Bungey 2 Cluster in Betong, which has recorded 28 new cases.

SDMC also announced the end of two clusters – the Sungai Entajum Cluster in Tatau and Pagar Serian Cluster in Serian.

Sarawak now has 96 active clusters, with 18 of them reporting a total of 215 new cases today.

Meanwhile, SDMC said Sarawak had two more deaths, raising the death toll to 477.

On today’s record breaking 1,216 cases, SDMC said almost half of them were in Kuching with 618 infections.

Serian and Bau had 223 and 116 cases respectively.

Samarahan had 77 cases, Betong (32), Sibu (28), Lundu (18), Bintulu (16), Simunjan (15), Tebedu (13), Asajaya (9), Miri (7), Saratok (7), Kapit (6), Mukah (6), Selangau (6), Tatau (6), Beluru (3), Dalat (2), Sebauh (2), Kanowit (2), and one each in Sri Aman, Pusa, Belaga and Lawas.
