CHIEF Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Openg chaired a meeting with all Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) Members of Parliaments last night,  a “kingmaker” bloc that determines the occupants in Putrajaya.

The meeting, comprising members of both the Lower and Upper House of the Federal legislature, was held ahead of the Dewan Rakyat meeting which starts tomorrow.

It is understood that Abang Johari briefed the legislators on the latest political developments and issues concerning the rights of the state.

The GPS, with 18 member in the Dewan Rakyat, has been actively wooed by the political bloc seeking to oust Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin from power through a vote of no-confidence in Parliament.

GPS has remained steadfast in supporting Muhyiddin’s Perikatan Nasional and was key in ensuring the premier’s appointment following an internal coup that saw the ouster of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad in late February.
