Sarawak health department has identified 2,484 people in Kuching who need to undergo screening immediately.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said they are the close contacts of several Covid-19 patients.
“We have identified 6,022 of them. Out of the total, 3,538 people undergone screening while 2,484 people have not yet been tested.
The health department will start tracing and contacting them through phone today,” he said in a daily press briefing on Sunday.
Uggah, who is also the state management disaster committee chairman said this is the first step to accelerate flattening of the curve (current wave), especially in Kuching, since it is a red zone with the highest confirmed cases.
“I hope everyone will follow the instructions given by the health personnel. Please give your full cooperation.
This (screening) is very important for us to break the infection chain,” he said.
