125 new Covid-19 cases today, total now 553

MALAYSIA recorded 125 new Covid-19 cases today, bringing the total to 553 cases, Health Minister Datuk Dr Adham Baba said today.

He said of these, 95 of the new cases could be traced to a tabligh gathering at Sri Petaling mosque which took place from Feb 27 to March 1, Malaysiakini reported.

As such, the total number of patients who participated in the gathering is 338.

Dr Adham said the number of patients in the intensive care unit and requiring the aid of a ventilator to breath have also increased from nine to 12.

Meanwhile, Malaysiakini reported that the government will offer financial aid of RM600 per employee per month for up to six months for those forced to take no-pay leave. This was announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in a press conference today.

He said this will cost the government RM120 million and about 33,000 workers are expected to benefit from this scheme.

He also advised Malaysians not to panic as there’s enough food supply.
