11 new Covid-19 cases in Sarawak today, including 3 from unknown sources

SARAWAK today registered 11 new positive Covid-19 cases, including three which health authorities are still trying to determine the source. This brings to 20 cases reported in the state since Friday.

Of the eight new cases registered today, eight are from Miri and are linked to the cluster attending the religious event in the Sri Petaling mosque in Kuala Lumpur, Sarawak Disaster Management Committee Chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said in a statement. There are one case each in Kuching, Bintulu and Sarikei.

“We are still identifying the source for the Kuching, Sarikei and Bintulu cases. The State Health Department is still verifying the source”, he said today.

Uggah added as of yesterday, his committee has set up a special task group, to track down over 400 travellers flying into the State through the four main airports between March 2 and March 5 from Kuala Lumpur.

Meanwhile, he again reiterated the need for the public to observe the highest personal hygiene standard by regularly washing their hands and observe social distancing guidelines in public places.
